EXPLANATION OF ATTITUDE CODES

Our collectors professional and diplomatic approach to every claim in their unit will ensure your good name and reputation, are maintained at all times.

  • Code 1-Easy (Soft) Approach

    Phone calls only; no personal visits to the debtor. Make the debtor aware there’s a problem and that a third party in now involved. A pat on the hand and a “Let’s get this paid up right away.” If more aggressive action is required at this point, the in-house collector will contact the client.

  • Code 2-Strong Approach

    Phone calls; no personal visits. Serious action will be taken if the debt is not retired right away. If more aggressive action is required at this point, the in-house collector will contact the client.

  • Code 3-Stronger Approach

    Phone calls, special correspondence, and then an investigator outside of the organization makes contact with the debtor if necessary.

  • Code 4-Even Stronger Approach

    Have an investigator in the debtor’s locale call the debtor and make demands. If necessary the investigator will make a personal visit.

  • Code 5-Whatever it Takes

    what must be done, within legal boundaries, to collect the money short of litigation.

  • Litigation – The Last Resort

    If all of the above efforts fail to produce the desired results, we will consult with you regarding the advisability of suing the debtor. Please note less than 1% of all cases placed with us need to be resolved legally. If suit seems appropriate however, our Legal Forwarding Department can facilitate the procedure.

  • Detective Agency Program

    Unlike most agencies our first contact to the debtor is not by letter. We have found this to be time consuming and inadequate. We have a nationally licensed and bonded detective whom makes the first contact to the CFO or President of the debtor company. He informs them he has been retained to conduct an asset and liability search to find out if it is a viable ongoing company. We have found 85% of the time within five minutes of that contact we receive a phone call here at Milliken & Michaels from the CFO or President of the debtor company. This Program has brought our litigation rate down to less than 1%

Please Note:  When a claim is placed with us and no code is suggested, we always start out “Soft but Firm,” then get progressively stronger, as above, in our collection efforts.
